Chapter 3 — The King Walks Into His Own Funeral

Chapter 3 — The King Walks Into His Own Funeral

The estate suddenly went dark.

Every light.

Every security camera.

Every alarm.

Someone had shut down the entire property.

Vincent smiled.

For the first time that night.

"They're beginning."

Outside...

car doors slammed.

More than twenty armed men surrounded the mansion.

Marcus entered the grand ballroom carrying a champagne glass.

Every member of the Torino family was already waiting.

His wife.

His cousins.

Trusted captains.

Lawyers.

Even priests.

Everyone wore black.

At the center of the room stood an enormous portrait of Vincent Torino.

Surrounded by white roses.

Marcus raised his glass.

"To Uncle Vincent."

"The greatest leader our family ever had."

The room applauded.

Then Marcus continued.

"It's unfortunate..."

"...that his plane exploded over the Adriatic Sea tonight."

Several women pretended to cry.

One man opened a sealed envelope.

It contained Vincent's forged death certificate.

Marcus smiled.

"By sunrise..."

"Everything belongs to us."

A slow clap echoed through the ballroom.

Every head turned.

The massive oak doors opened.

Vincent Torino walked inside.

Alive.

Calm.

Perfectly dressed.

Elena walked beside him.

Holding a tablet.

Behind them came dozens of armed federal agents.

Italian anti-mafia officers.

Financial investigators.

And Captain Luca Ferraro—the real commander everyone believed had retired years earlier.

Marcus went completely pale.

"Impossible..."

Vincent smiled.

"You buried me too early."

Elena pressed one button.

The mansion's giant television screens lit up.

Every betrayal.

Every secret meeting.

Every offshore transfer.

Every murder order.

Every recording.

Played in front of the entire family.

Marcus slowly backed away.

His wife collapsed into a chair.

Captain Rossi reached for his gun—

Three snipers painted red laser dots across his chest.

"Don't."

Ferraro said calmly.

"You've already lost."

Marcus suddenly laughed.

"You think this ends tonight?"

Vincent looked directly into his nephew's eyes.

"No."

"It ended eleven months ago..."

"...the day my maid decided to stop pretending."

Elena removed her maid's apron.

Beneath it...

She wore a federal tactical vest.

She clipped her old FBI badge onto her chest.

Then she looked at Marcus.

"My father died because of your organization."

"My mother spent twenty years hiding me."

"I spent twenty years becoming invisible."

"So I could destroy every one of you from the inside."

Federal agents moved in.

Handcuffs clicked.

One after another...

The traitors fell.

Marcus was the last.

As officers led him away, he looked back at Vincent.

"I was your son."

Vincent's expression never changed.

"No."

"You were the lesson."

Months later...

The Torino criminal empire no longer existed.

Its money funded victims' compensation programs.

Its businesses became legitimate companies.

Vincent testified against every surviving syndicate leader.

Then disappeared from public life.

When reporters later asked where the legendary Mafia Boss had gone...

No one knew.

Only one person still saw him every morning.

In a quiet vineyard overlooking the sea...

An elderly man handed a cup of coffee to the woman who had once cleaned his mansion.

Vincent smiled.

"You know..."

"I never actually thanked you."

Elena smiled back.

"You already did."

"How?"

"You chose to become a better man..."

May you like

"...instead of a dead king."

THE END
