THE MAFIA BOSS AIMED A GUN AT ME—THEN HIS DYING BABY EXPOSED THE TRAITOR INSIDE HIS MANSION

The Mafia Boss Put a Gun to My Head—Then His Starving Baby Exposed the Traitor Inside His Mansion

The most feared mafia boss in the country aimed a gun between my eyes while his dying baby drank milk from my body.

He thought I was kidnapping his son.

Then the baby swallowed for the first time in weeks.

And I realized the real threat was not the man holding the gun.

It was the person quietly locking us inside the nursery.

Three weeks earlier, I had buried my daughter.

My violent ex-boyfriend had shoved me down a staircase when I was thirty-eight weeks pregnant.

Doctors delivered Lily in an emergency surgery.

She never took a breath.

But my body did not understand that she was gone.

Days later, my milk came in.

My chest ached.

My stitches burned with every step.

And every heartbeat reminded me that I had returned home without my baby.

I wrapped my body tightly beneath my maid’s uniform and went back to work.

Grief did not pay rent.

Neither did fear.

Men were hunting my ex-boyfriend over unpaid debts, and I knew they might eventually come looking for me.

The Rossi estate seemed like the safest place to disappear.

It belonged to Lorenzo Rossi.

The most feared crime boss in the country.

His mansion had only three rules.

Keep your head down.

Never speak to the armed guards.

Never enter the nursery.

I followed every rule.

Until two o’clock one morning.

That was when I heard the baby crying.

Everyone inside the mansion knew Lorenzo’s two-month-old son was slowly fading away.

Leo had rejected every expensive formula.

He refused donor milk.

Specialists had flown in from three different countries.

Nothing worked.

Each day, he became smaller.

Quieter.

Weaker.

I heard his cry again as I carried fresh towels through the second-floor hallway.

It was barely a cry.

It sounded like a tiny breath begging not to disappear.

I stopped walking.

The nursery door stood slightly open.

I knew entering could cost me my job.

In the Rossi mansion, it could cost me far more than that.

Then Leo cried again.

I turned around.

Inside the nursery, the night nurse was asleep in a velvet chair.

A half-empty wineglass rested beside her hand.

Leo lay trembling inside his crib.

His tiny fists opened and closed weakly.

His face was pale.

His lips were dry.

When I lifted him, he immediately turned toward my chest.

“No,” I whispered.

My voice broke.

Holding him reopened every wound I had spent three weeks trying to bury.

For one impossible second, I imagined Lily breathing against me.

I imagined her tiny fingers holding my uniform.

Then Leo released another desperate whimper.

I looked at the sleeping nurse.

I looked at the starving child.

And I made a decision that could get me killed.

My hands shook as I opened the front of my uniform.

The moment Leo latched on, the monitor beside his crib changed.

One swallow.

Then another.

Then another.

I stared at him through tears.

He was eating.

For the first time in weeks, Lorenzo Rossi’s son was actually eating.

The nursery door suddenly flew open.

Lorenzo stood in the doorway wearing black trousers and an unbuttoned dress shirt.

His eyes moved from my exposed chest to the baby in my arms.

His expression became colder than death.

In one smooth motion, he pulled a pistol.

The barrel pointed directly at my forehead.

“Put my son down.”

Every muscle in my body locked.

But I did not release Leo.

“Please,” I whispered.

“Look at the monitor.”

Lorenzo stepped closer.

“I said put him down.”

Leo swallowed again.

The sound was soft.

But in that silent room, it was louder than a gunshot.

Lorenzo froze.

His weapon lowered slightly.

For one second, I saw the man beneath the legend.

Not a mafia boss.

Not a killer.

A terrified father watching the last piece of his dead wife fight to survive.

Leo swallowed again.

Lorenzo stared at his son.

“He hasn’t eaten like that in weeks.”

My eyes moved toward the sleeping nurse.

Then toward the wineglass beside her.

A strange chemical smell lingered in the room.

My stomach tightened.

“Mr. Rossi…”

He looked at me.

“I don’t think your son has been refusing his food.”

His face hardened immediately.

“What are you accusing someone of?”

Before I could answer, the nursery door slammed shut behind him.

A lock clicked from the outside.

Lorenzo spun around.

Leo suddenly stopped drinking.

His tiny body went stiff in my arms.

Then a voice whispered through the other side of the door.

My name.

“Clara.”

My blood turned cold.

Because only one person inside that mansion knew my real name.

The man who had killed my daughter.
