Chapter 2: The Memory She Buried

The wedding hall exploded into whispers.

Guests looked at each other.

Suspicion filled the room.

The father grabbed Noah’s arm.

“Tell me everything.”

Noah nodded slowly.

“Your wife was scared that night.”

The father looked down.

“She never told me.”

“She tried.”

Noah looked at Emma.

“But before she could, something happened.”

Emma suddenly covered her ears.

Her body began shaking.

Everyone panicked.

“Emma!”

Her father rushed toward her.

But Noah stopped him gently.

“Don’t force her.”

He knelt beside her.

“She’s remembering.”

The little girl’s eyes closed.

And then, for the first time in a year…

A sound came from her mouth.

A broken whisper.

“Mommy…”

The entire room froze.

Her father collapsed to his knees.

Because he had waited one year to hear that one word.

“Mommy…”

Emma cried silently.

“She was here…”

Everyone leaned closer.

“She was holding flowers…”

Her breathing became faster.

“She was talking to someone…”

The father grabbed Noah’s shoulder.

“Who?”

Emma opened her eyes.

Her small voice trembled.

“Uncle Daniel…”

The room went completely silent.

Standing near the entrance was Daniel.

The father’s closest friend.

The man who had helped organize the wedding.

The man who had comforted him after his wife’s death.

The man who had stood beside him for an entire year.

Daniel’s face changed.

“No…”

But everyone saw it.

Fear.

The father slowly stood.

“Daniel?”

Daniel stepped backward.

“This is ridiculous. She’s a child.”

But Noah looked at him.

“She remembers.”

Daniel’s confidence disappeared.

The father’s voice became cold.

“What happened that night?”

Daniel said nothing.

Security guards moved closer.

Then Noah revealed the final piece.

“Your wife discovered he was stealing money from the company.”

The room erupted.

The father stared at Daniel.

“My wife knew?”

“She was going to expose him,” Noah said.

Daniel’s expression changed from fear to anger.

“You don’t know anything!”

But Emma suddenly spoke again.

A single sentence.

A sentence that destroyed him.

“Mommy told you to stop…”

Daniel went pale.

Because those were the exact words she had said that night.

The father looked at the man he trusted most.

May you like

And realized the person who comforted him after losing his wife…

Was the same person who caused it.
