CHAPTER 3 — THE LIE THAT BUILT A BILLIONAIRE

Eight years earlier…

Richard Vale had been driving home after a business meeting.

His twins were waiting for him.

It was supposed to be a normal night.

But Richard had received a phone call that changed everything.

A business rival had threatened him.

A deal worth billions was at risk.

And Richard made a choice.

A terrible choice.

Instead of going home…

He turned the car around.

He left his children waiting.

Minutes later, Catherine took Ethan and Eliza to find him.

And that was when the accident happened.

The official report said it was a tragic mechanical failure.

A random accident.

Nobody was responsible.

But Noah knew the truth.

His mother, Anna, had been the assistant of Richard’s business rival.

She discovered that the car had been intentionally damaged.

Someone wanted Richard to lose everything.

But when Richard found out…

He didn’t reveal the truth.

Because exposing the sabotage would destroy his company.

His empire.

His reputation.

So he buried the evidence.

He allowed everyone to believe it was just an accident.

Even his own wife.

Even his children.

Even himself.

Back in the ballroom, Richard stared at Noah.

“You’re lying.”

Noah shook his head.

“My mom recorded everything.”

He pulled out another small object from his pocket.

A memory card.

The room became silent.

Catherine looked at Richard with heartbreak.

“You knew?”

Richard looked away.

That was all the answer she needed.

Her eyes filled with tears.

“All these years…”

Her voice cracked.

“You let me believe it was just bad luck?”

Richard tried to explain.

“I was protecting this family.”

“No.”

Catherine stepped back.

“You were protecting yourself.”

The words hurt more than any accusation.

Because they were true.

Ethan and Eliza watched their father.

They didn’t understand every detail.

But they understood one thing.

Their father had hidden something.

Noah walked toward the twins again.

“I can help them.”

Richard looked at him.

“How?”

Noah placed his hand gently on Ethan’s brace.

“Because my mom spent years finding doctors who studied their injury.”

He looked at Eliza.

“She never stopped believing they could walk again.”

Catherine covered her mouth.

A homeless boy.

A child with nothing.

May you like

Had brought the one thing money couldn’t buy.

A second chance.
