CHAPTER 6 — THE TRUTH ABOUT RICHARD HALE’S DEATH

Ethan refused to believe it.

His mother had died years earlier.

She was the woman who supported his father.

The woman who built the family beside him.

But the evidence kept appearing.

Hidden accounts.

Secret meetings.

Old recordings.

Then Ethan discovered the impossible.

His mother was alive.

She had disappeared because Richard discovered her betrayal.

She was not killed.

She escaped.

When Ethan finally met her, she looked nothing like the woman from his childhood memories.

She was older.

Broken.

Regretful.

"I never wanted your father dead."

Ethan’s voice shook.

"Then why did he die?"

She looked down.

"Because Charles wanted control."

"Charles poisoned him?"

She nodded.

"But I helped him."

Silence.

Ethan felt like the entire world collapsed.

His own family destroyed everything his father built.

His mother whispered:

"Your father knew."

"What?"

"He knew all of us were against him."

"Then why didn't he stop you?"

Her eyes filled with tears.

"Because he wanted you to learn something."

"What?"

"That a company is not protected by money."

May you like

She looked at him.

"It's protected by the people who are willing to sacrifice for it."
