Chapter 1 - THE MAID NO ONE SAW

The Whitmore Estate had hosted hundreds of events.

Political dinners.

Celebrity parties.

Corporate meetings worth billions.

But tonight was different.

Tonight was Victoria Whitmore’s wedding day.

Crystal chandeliers illuminated the ballroom.

Diamonds flashed.

Champagne flowed.

The most powerful families in the city gathered beneath one roof.

And among them stood a woman nobody noticed.

Elena Reyes.

A maid.

She carried empty glasses through the crowd with her eyes lowered.

She had learned long ago that invisible people survived longer.

Nobody asked her name.

Nobody cared where she came from.

To the guests, she was just another employee wearing a uniform.

Until Vivian Blackwood noticed her.

Vivian was Victoria’s aunt.

A woman famous for destroying people with a smile.

She looked Elena up and down.

“You spilled champagne on table seven.”

Elena looked surprised.

“I’m sorry, ma’am. I’ll clean it immediately.”

Vivian stepped closer.

“You people always say sorry.”

The room slowly became quiet.

Elena lowered her head.

“I didn’t mean any disrespect.”

Vivian smiled.

“That’s the problem. You don’t belong in places like this.”

Then came the moment nobody expected.

A single slap.

The sound echoed through the ballroom.

Elena stumbled backward.

Her hand touched her cheek.

The old silver locket around her neck broke loose.

It fell onto the marble floor.

Everyone stared.

Some guests laughed.

Some looked away.

Vivian smiled.

Finally, she believed she had reminded a nobody of her place.

But she didn’t notice one person walking toward the fallen locket.

May you like

The bride.

Victoria Whitmore.
