Chapter 2: The Man Nobody Expected

The man standing at the entrance was not someone who belonged among servants.
His black suit was perfectly tailored.
His expression was calm.
Too calm.
Everyone recognized him.
Some guests immediately stood up.
“Mr. Adrian Black…”
The name spread through the room like a warning.
Adrian Black.
A billionaire investor.
A man whose companies controlled industries across the country.
A man who could destroy a corporation with one signature.
Victoria’s confidence disappeared for half a second.
But she quickly recovered.
“Adrian, what brings you here?”
He didn’t answer.
His eyes remained on Sophie.
The woman kneeling on the floor.
The woman with a bruised cheek.
The woman everyone had ignored.
He walked toward her.
Slowly.
“Who did this?”
Nobody answered.
Victoria forced a laugh.
“Oh, don’t be dramatic. She made a mistake. I was simply teaching her a lesson.”
Adrian looked at her.
“A lesson?”
Victoria smiled.
“She damaged my property.”
Adrian glanced at the marble floor.
Then back at Sophie.
“You mean a wine stain?”
The room became silent.
Victoria’s smile faded.
“You don’t understand.”
“No.”
Adrian’s voice remained quiet.
“I understand perfectly.”
He helped Sophie stand.
For the first time that night, someone treated her like a human being.
Then Adrian pulled out his phone.
Victoria’s expression changed.
“What are you doing?”
“Making a phone call.”
“To whom?”
May you like
Adrian looked directly at her.
“To the people who decide whether your empire survives tomorrow.”
