CHAPTER 4 — THE TRUTH COMES OUT
When Linda and Chloe returned home, they expected Lauren to forgive them.
They were wrong.
They arrived at Lauren’s apartment without warning.
Linda knocked aggressively.
“You’re acting crazy!”
Lauren opened the door.
She wasn’t angry.
She was calm.
That scared them more.
Chloe stepped forward.
“You ruined our vacation!”
Lauren stared at her.
“You mean the vacation you bought with my stolen money?”
Chloe looked away.
For the first time, she had nothing to say.
Then Lauren revealed something.
She had saved every message.
Every request for money.
Every excuse.
Every time they pressured her.
She placed the documents on the table.
“I spent ten years helping this family.”
Her voice shook slightly.
“But you never saw me as a daughter.”
Linda frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
“You saw me as a solution.”
