Chapter 2: The Hidden Truth

Ryan stared at his father.

“You came here because of her?”

The older man said nothing.

Instead, he took out his phone.

He pressed play.

A voice filled the room.

Ryan’s voice.

“You’re lucky nobody believes you, Emma.”

Her breathing stopped.

The recording continued.

“You think my family will choose you over me?”

A second voice appeared.

Ryan’s sister, Claire.

The woman standing in the corner.

“She won't tell anyone. She has nowhere to go.”

Emma closed her eyes.

She remembered that night.

The night they laughed about her fear.

The night they planned how to control her.

Ryan looked at Claire.

“You recorded us?”

Emma slowly shook her head.

“No.”

She looked at him.

“I saved myself.”

The police officers exchanged a glance.

The old man looked devastated.

Because the recording revealed something worse than anyone expected.

This wasn’t a single moment of anger.

It was a pattern.

A carefully hidden nightmare.
