Chapter 3: The Bride They Never Understood

Daniel rushed toward Emily.
"You can't do this!"
She stopped walking but never turned around.
"I already did."
Vanessa grabbed Daniel's sleeve.
"You told me your company was worth billions."
Daniel said nothing.
His silence answered everything.
Daniel's mother stumbled toward Emily, her arrogance replaced with panic.
"Emily... this is all just a misunderstanding."
Emily finally faced her.
"A misunderstanding?"
She looked down at the torn veil lying on the marble floor.
"You pushed me out of family dinners."
"You introduced me as 'Daniel's guest.'"
"You made me sign a prenuptial agreement while secretly begging my father to save your business."
Tears filled the older woman's eyes.
"We didn't know who you really were."
Emily smiled sadly.
"Exactly."
"You only respected money."
The ballroom doors opened.
A dozen executives entered, led by a distinguished older man in a navy suit.
Every person in the room immediately recognized him.
Richard Harrison.
Emily's father.
He walked directly past Daniel without acknowledging him.
Instead, he stopped beside his daughter.
"Are you ready to go home?"
Emily nodded once.
"Yes, Dad."
Richard looked at Daniel for the first time.
"You never lost my investment."
He paused.
"You lost my daughter."
