“Dad… Lock Every Exit.” Moments Later, No One Could Leave.
“Dad… Lock Every Exit.” Moments Later, No One Could Leave.
“Dad.”
“Lock every exit.”
My voice was steady when I said it into the phone.
Far too steady for a woman with blood running across her lips.
I kept my eyes fixed on the man standing across from me while I slowly wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth with the back of my hand.
Around us, the charity gala continued to sparkle beneath enormous crystal chandeliers.
Champagne flowed.
An orchestra played softly beside the sweeping marble staircase.
Billionaires, celebrities, politicians, CEOs, and families whose money went back generations moved through the ballroom as if the night were perfectly normal.
As if I hadn’t just been thrown against a marble wall.
As if the bruise darkening beneath my eye wasn’t obvious beneath the chandelier light.
Maybe they had seen everything.
Actually, I knew they had.
They simply decided that what happened to me wasn’t worth becoming involved in.
The man who had done it straightened his diamond cufflinks.
Then he smiled.
Calm.
Pleased.
Almost entertained.
As though attacking a woman in the middle of a crowded ballroom had been nothing more than a small interruption to his evening.
Then he started walking toward me.
Slowly.
Confidently.
Without the slightest fear of consequences.
“So…”
His mouth twisted into a smug grin.
“You’re still trying to call someone for help?”
His friends burst out laughing.
Not nervous laughter.
Cruel laughter.
The kind that comes from people who believe they’re untouchable.
Several guests turned toward us.
They saw my ripped sleeve.
They saw my hair hanging loose around my face.
They saw the thin line of blood across my lower lip.
And then they looked away.
Back to their champagne.
Back to their conversations.
Back to pretending they had witnessed absolutely nothing.
Nobody stepped forward.
Nobody confronted him.
Nobody dared challenge the heir to one of the most powerful families in the city.
Because everyone inside that ballroom had already reached the same conclusion.
I was alone.
I had no protection.
No influence.
No way out.
And against a man like him…
I had already lost.
I brought the phone slightly closer to my ear.
“Deploy the security team.”
My voice remained perfectly controlled.
Then I gave the second order.
“Seal the entire estate.”
There was a brief silence on the other end.
Then a man answered.
“Understood, ma’am.”
The call disconnected.
My attacker stared at me.
For half a second, confusion flickered across his face.
Then he laughed.
Hard.
“That’s it?”
His friends started laughing with him.
“That’s your big plan?”
He spread his arms and glanced around the ballroom.
“You seriously think somebody is coming to save you?”
The laughter grew louder.
One of his friends even raised his champagne glass toward me in a mocking toast.
A woman nearby covered her smile with one hand.
To them, this wasn’t violence anymore.
It was entertainment.
And they believed they already knew how the show would end.
They thought they were watching a helpless woman finally understand that nobody was coming.
They thought they were watching me lose.
Slowly, I lowered the phone.
I slipped it back into my purse.
Then something inside me shifted.
The fear left my face.
The panic disappeared from my eyes.
And what replaced it was something they hadn’t expected.
Confidence.
Silent.
Cold.
Absolute.
I tilted my head and looked toward the security cameras mounted high above the ballroom.
Then…
I smiled.
BOOM.
A deafening metallic crash ripped through the mansion.
The orchestra stopped in the middle of a note.
Every conversation died instantly.
Hundreds of people turned toward the sound.
Then came another crash.
BANG.
Then another.
BANG.
BANG.
BANG.
Massive reinforced steel barriers dropped over the exits one after another.
The floor seemed to tremble beneath our feet.
People screamed.
Champagne glasses slipped from startled hands and shattered across the marble.
“What the hell is happening?!”
Panic tore through the ballroom.
Guests rushed toward the doors.
Men in custom tuxedos shoved past one another.
Women stumbled in designer heels.
Somebody screamed for security.
But security was already moving.
Uniformed personnel stepped into position along the walls with precise, practiced movements.
And by the time the guests reached the exits…
It was too late.
The final reinforced barrier crashed into place.
CLANG.
Locked.
Sealed.
Immovable.
For the first time that evening…
The smile disappeared from my attacker’s face.
So did the arrogance.
He stared at the nearest exit.
Blocked.
He turned toward another.
Blocked.
Then another.
Sealed.
Every possible way out was gone.
His jaw tightened.
His breathing became shallow.
And then I noticed his hands.
They were trembling.
I watched him carefully.
I didn’t say a word.
Slowly, he turned back toward me.
His throat tightened as he swallowed.
“W-What did you do?”
I took one measured step toward him.
“You made one fatal mistake.”
His breathing changed.
The ballroom had become almost completely silent.
Hundreds of people were watching us now.
The same people who had looked away minutes earlier.
The same people who had laughed.
The same people who had decided I wasn’t worth helping.
Not one of them was smiling anymore.
He stared at me.
“What mistake?”
A small smile touched my lips.
Cold.
Controlled.
Final.
“You assumed those doors were built…”
I stepped closer.
“…to keep dangerous people out.”
Behind him, the final locking mechanism engaged.
SNAP.
The brutal metallic sound echoed through the ballroom.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
I kept walking until only inches separated us.
Then I slowly shook my head.
“No.”
The color drained from his face.
I held his eyes.
“They were built…”
I leaned closer, lowering my voice until every word belonged only to him.
“…to make sure men like you never walk out.”
And this time…
May you like
Nobody laughed.
