Chapter 4 — Justice Without Mercy

The ambulance arrived within minutes.
Doctors rushed Khloe into emergency surgery.
Harrison remained outside the operating room, his bloodstained suit untouched.
He hadn't spoken a single word.
Not to detectives.
Not to reporters.
Not even to the governor, who personally called after hearing what had happened.
Two hours later, a surgeon finally stepped into the hallway.
"The baby survived."
Harrison closed his eyes.
"And Khloe?"
The doctor smiled.
"She's alive."
Relief washed over him for only a moment.
Then his expression became cold again.
Detectives approached.
"We've arrested Vanessa Kensington."
Harrison nodded once.
"And Richard Harrington?"
"He claims he didn't know she intended to attack your sister."
Harrison handed them a flash drive.
"You do now."
Inside were months of deleted messages recovered by forensic investigators.
Messages proving Richard had repeatedly encouraged Vanessa to "remove Khloe from the picture" before the divorce settlement.
It wasn't enough for an attempted murder charge.
It was enough for conspiracy.
Six months later...
Richard Harrington was sentenced to eighteen years in federal prison for fraud, conspiracy, and financial crimes.
Vanessa Kensington received twenty-five years for attempted murder of a pregnant woman.
Every luxury property they once owned was sold to compensate Khloe.
The Harrington name disappeared from every building in Pennsylvania.
One spring afternoon, Khloe stood outside her new home with her healthy baby daughter asleep in her arms.
Harrison walked beside her.
"You know," Khloe said quietly, "I spent years believing justice meant revenge."
Harrison looked at his niece before smiling for the first time in months.
"No."
"Justice is making sure evil never gets another chance."
Khloe kissed her daughter's forehead.
For the first time in years...
She wasn't looking back at everything she had lost.
May you like
She was looking forward to everything she had finally reclaimed.
The End.
